Salisbury, a historic city in Wiltshire, England, is renowned for its medieval architecture and its cathedral, which boasts the tallest spire in the United Kingdom. The city has its origins in the Iron Age with the hill fort of Old Sarum, later developed by the Romans and then the Normans, who built a castle and cathedral there. However, due to disputes and inadequate infrastructure, Bishop Richard Poore moved the cathedral and the city to its present location in the 13th century, creating New Sarum, now known as Salisbury.

Today, Salisbury covers approximately 23 square kilometers (9 square miles) and has a population of around 40,000.
